The exceptional sense of place
A magnificent sense of place is more complex than you might imagine. It essentially encompasses all the factors that go into the production of wine grapes in a vineyard, defined as an ecosystem, in each place, including many factors such as climatic conditions, variety and rootstock, geography and topography, as well as soil characteristics such as mineral nutrition and water supply.
The concept behind this is quite old, dating back to the Ancient Greeks who were engaged in extensive winemaking.
The unique combination of outstanding weather, vibrant sunlight and a cool, humidity-free climate, the sea breeze from Akamas and the terrain features of Kathikas, produce an elegant, mineral, slightly spicy Xynisteri with deep texture and flavours.
The picturesque village of Kathikas is located twenty minutes north of Paphos. It is the oldest wine-growing region of Cyprus, with numerous vineyards scattered across the green hills. The fertile soil and the cool air from the sea make this area excellent for the cultivation of vineyards.
